R.J. Rushdoony: 00:01 Are we over-polluted and overpopulated? This is R.J Rushdoony with a report on our threatened freedom.

R.J. Rushdoony: 00:09 A few years ago I wrote a paper back entitled The Myth Of Overpopulation, a book which is still in print. It was a delight therefore to find a more thorough study of the subject, Dr. Julian L. Simon’s, The Ultimate Resource.

R.J. Rushdoony: 00:27 Dr. Simon documents the fact that we are not running out of farmland or food, because of increased production much farmland is returning to porus, wildlife areas, and recreational use. The world’s food production is growing faster than the population. We are not running out of any natural resources, and in fact our known reserves are increasing dramatically. Instead of a diminishing energy supply we have more and cheaper energy ahead of us int he future.

R.J. Rushdoony: 01:04 Pollution has been decreasing steady for some years, and population grown is not the reason for pollution. Population density does not create biological nor physiological problems. The standard of living improve wherever population increases. Immigration is beneficial and illegal aliens actually pay in more by taxes than they ever receive as well for, and so on, and on.

R.J. Rushdoony: 01:41 Dr. Simon not only documents his case, but for example offers to wager $10,000 dollars that raw materials will not be scarcer in the future than the are now. Dr. Simon states that he once believed the myths of overpopulation, dwindling natural resources and so on, however when he investigated the subject thoroughly, he found the reverse to be true. The cry of overpopulation and pollution is not new. It goes back at least to Plato. Plato’s answer to this idea was a controlled and planned society. The day those who propagate the myth of overpopulation have a life solution. They’re planning and controls. The myth has built into it a convent answer, status controls to solve the supposed problem The result is the death of freedom.

R.J. Rushdoony: 02:48 This has been R.J Rushdoony with a report on our threatened freedom.

Rev. R.J. Rushdoony (1916–2001), was a leading theologian, church/state expert, and author of numerous works on the application of Biblical law to society. He started the Chalcedon Foundation in 1965.  His Institutes of Biblical Law (1973) began the contemporary theonomy movement which posits the validity of Biblical law as God’s standard of obedience for all. He therefore saw God’s law as the basis of the modern Christian response to the cultural decline, one he attributed to the church’s false view of God’s law being opposed to His grace. This broad Christian response he described as “Christian Reconstruction.”  He is credited with igniting the modern Christian school and homeschooling movements in the mid to late 20th century. He also traveled extensively lecturing and serving as an expert witness in numerous court cases regarding religious liberty. Many ministry and educational efforts that continue today, took their philosophical and Biblical roots from his lectures and books.
